Babylon

. . . and many should be carried away captive into Babylon.
First Nephi. Chapter One. Verse 13.

Captive of Babylon, I style my life --
Society brings me but sorrow and strife.
All that is good is made mock of, you see,
From blog posts to comics on late night TV.

Where is the beauty of innocence shown?
Who to forgiveness is constantly prone?
The courts are corrupt and the government lax,
And I am their hostage (for which I pay tax!)

I wish to be taken away from this place
To where milk and honey I’ll always embrace.
Oh, how I would run if I had but a map --

Right after I’ve eaten and had a good nap . . .
