The next President of the LDS Church, Russell M. Nelson
Mormons don’t do succession drama. When the head of their
church dies, as Thomas S. Monson did on Tuesday,
the next leader is chosen from the top ranks based strictly
on seniority. The system is intended to avoid any hint
of instability or intrigue, but it practically guarantees
that the president will be elderly — even very elderly.

From the NYTimes
Orderly succession and maturity of years
Seems to generate in some a snaggle of cheap fears.
God is no respecter of the great or of the small --
He places prophets so there are no diabolic brawls.
Anyone who thinks the process is unsanctified
Ought to kneel and ask, and take the answer in their stride.
What I know of choosing prophets throughout history
Is that it will not be you -- and will surely not be me!
